Week 36: Smile

28 10 2010

Happy Halloween!

Carving a pumpkin is so much fun!  It just makes you feel like a kid again!  I hope you enjoy my handy work.  As for the picture, I decided to give the zoom effect another try.  You may remember the technique from Week 10: Night-time.

Week 35: Change

6 10 2010

Thank goodness the times have changed!  Things like this make me appreciate being a photographer in the digital age.  Although, I think it would be interesting to learn to use older cameras such as this one.  I love history!  Thinking about how different things were back then…who used this camera?  What did they take pictures of?

The Kodak Six-20 ‘Brownie’ C was made in the time period of WWII.  It’s neat to think maybe this camera was near the war zone capturing all the action, documenting history.  While it’s more likely it was used for family vacations, it’s still cool to think about.  You just never know.

Week 33: Inner Peace

15 09 2010

Inner peace, by definition, is the state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress(Thank you, Wikipedia).

I feel a great sense of inner peace every time I look at the paper weight I have on my night stand.  Engraved on the side is the verse, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.”-Proverbs 3:6.  I read and repeat that verse to myself all the time.  I’m really confused about where my path is leading me these days but as long as I know He is in control I feel at peace.

What brings you inner peace?

Week 32: Shoe(s)

12 09 2010

“Who’s that chick that’s rockin kicks?”  Name that song!  Then tack it on my list of guilty pleasures.  It just makes me wanna dance!

But seriously, how cute are these little kicks?

Week 30: Black and white portrait

3 09 2010

Meet my parents, Charlie and Kimberlie!  You may actually remember them from the Mi Familia shoot back in November.   They are always such good sports and are willing to help me out when I need a favor.  In this case, the favor was for them to pose for my week 30 assignment.  So after dinner we had a quick ten minute shoot.  I love my parents; they are always a lot of fun.  They had such a great time laughing and cutting up.  It’s easy to see their genuine love and respect for one another.

They will have been married for 28 years(Congrats guys!!) this month so I titled this picture,  A black and white portrait of 28 years of love.  🙂

To my parents:  I am very blessed to have you guys in my life!  Thank you so much for your constant love and support.  I love you guys!!

“Listen, my child, to your father’s instructions and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.  What you learn from them will crown you with grace and clothe you with honor.”  – Proverbs 1:8-9

Week 29: Color: Blue

31 08 2010

So I was going over ideas for this week’s photo when I came across some old fortune cookie fortunes.  These three fortunes always seem to inspire me and, as it turns out, they’re all written in dark blue ink.  Coincidence?  I think not.  They were meant to be shared.

And yes, I keep my fortunes but only the ones I like.  Other people keep them too, right??   Yes? No? Eh well, tack that on to my list of silly little quirks. 🙂

Anyone else keep their fortunes?   If so, please feel free to share your favorite/most inspiring fortunes or quotes in the comment section.  I would love to see them!

Week 28: Pasta

26 08 2010

I love love love pasta!  If I could live on pasta alone, or any carb for that matter, for the rest of my life and not become the size of a house I totally would.  Carbs are my weak spot followed closely by sweets and really any other food.  I just love food!

Week 27: Feet

26 08 2010

What you’re probably thinking, ‘I have to look at post about feet before I get to see the post about cupcakes? Gross.”  What I’m thinking, ‘Get over it.  They’re baby feet and they’re cute.’ 🙂
